animism, a way to approach nature?
When I blend teas, tinctures or ointments from herbs, I think about how abundance there is in nature, how to consciously collect herbs and work with them, how to talk to them and listen to them.
Are we able to find a way how to approach nature with reverence and respect today? To think about how to simply return what we take from nature? Realize all herbal allies we use, for example, in the kitchen, medicines, cosmetics?
Our connection with the Land and the effort we put into our relationships with these spirits is magick is the act of consciously and deliberately causing a desired change. It involves tapping into the energies around us, harnessing them, and then releasing them. It's very humbling to use herbs in that way. It helps us to really understand our place in this world and takes us off the top of the totem pole, in our ecosystems.
So animism is recognizing that everything around us that is living has some sense of consciousness. Deeper understanding of who we are and beauty which is all around us. Vital life force is truly magnificent.
In a practice of animism we can find our place in this world in our ecosystem.
Pick one plant that you have an affinity for. Maybe there's a tree you always loved growing up, maybe there's a particular flower that your mom grew in her garden, And go spend time with them. Herbs have been traditionally, herbs and ambulance stones, colors, incense, symbols, all sorts of things have been used in astrological magic throughout history.
I'm going to go hang out with nettle, I'm going to go say hello to nettle, I'm going to acknowledge that they have intelligence. Because plants are way more likely to support you through your ritual, magical, and spiritual needs if you've built relationships with them.
Magic and mysticism has always survived through forces of empire by way of folk stories, mythology, old wives tales, things like this. Even art, you know, you can see different things in our expressions of art.
Magical and spiritual aplicantion of herbs
Several things could make a plant magical: a connection with ancestors; a remarkable growth form, shape, scent or color; its habitat; relation with animals; an associated medicinal use; or a sacred status among other ethnic groups.
May your path be enriched by the magic and wisdom of sacred plants. Enjoy your magic.
